VENUE INFORMATION

The theater is an 1880s hay barn converted into a theater.

There is a van that can take you to and from the venue. Pickup is at 96th St and West End Avenue. The van schedule is in the rehearsal schedule and coordination is done through the SM and ASM.

The dropbox folder includes VWX, DWG, PDF plans and sections as well as inventory and reference documents for the barn.

SCENIC

Preliminary Drawings should include a full drawing set ready for bid. PM/TD will prepare a bid package to disseminate.

Once we receive responses, Production Manager will assess to determine if the full design is feasible or if it must be scaled back. From there, Scenic Designer + Director will work with Penguin Staff to find suitable modifications to get to budget.

Final Designs will be submitted by Scenic Designer with all modifications updated.

COSTUMES

There is not shop, stock, or building.

Load in is the Friday of the first day of tech. Full costumes begin Saturday morning.

Wardrobe supervisor will clean and launder clothes with washer and dryer on site as necessary for the run.

An extra room can be rented for fittings. Fittings can be scheduled for 1 hour before or after rehearsals but may not exceed 5 hour block. Take fitting photos.

No assistant for fittings in the city but we support staff at venue.

Usually the designer makes purchases and returns. But Andrew could help.

Returns - told to Myra and Catherine they will pack. Andrew could return.

LIGHTING

Lloyd likes drawings by 9am on Friday so he can hang over the weekend.

Light Plots stay up until load in of the next production. Keep in mind we may use your plot for events and readings at the barn.

There are limited box boom positions.

The FOH pipe is too far away from the stage so lights often are overhung to try and get a better angle.

Not much offstage space so side light can be tough.

No in house hazer.

SOUND

There are limited resources for sound equipment. Typically you will get L/R/C speakers and maybe one on stage speaker.

VIDEO/PROJECTIONS

Projections have been done in the past but have proved to be challenging due to the space and budgetary restrictions.

Gear is typically rented.
