Safe Driving
Always follow NYC metro laws and regulations, use designated Truck Routes (major avenues & expressways).
Double-check GPS! Truck-specific navigation (e.g., Hammer, Trucker Path) may be helpful.
Common NYC Parkways to Avoid
With low bridges, heavy fines, and safety risks, these roads do not allow trucks of any size.
FDR Drive (Manhattan)
Henry Hudson Parkway (Manhattan/Bronx)
West Side Highway north of 59th St
Grand Central Parkway (Queens)
Belt Parkway (Brooklyn/Queens)
Cross Island Parkway (Queens)
Safe Loading
Heaviest, sturdiest items first
Platforms, flats, heavy carts, wagons, or road cases should go against the front wall of the truck. This keeps the weight forward and reduces shifting under braking.
Load scenery to stand flat and stable
Put flats upright, tight against one side of the truck.
Put platforms on edge or flat, depending on design.
Use Ratchet Straps to Secure the Load
Hook one end into the E-track or D-ring.
Pull the strap over or around the scenery piece.
Connect the strap to the ratchet on the opposite tie-down point.
Pull the slack through the ratchet’s slot until the strap is snug.
Pump the ratchet handle until the strap is tight
Communications
Be sure to fill out your information on the worker intake form with your contact information.
A group chat is usually created the morning of a delivery call. Feel free to introduce yourself and keep the chat updated on departure and ETA’s prior to hitting the road. A client phone number will be found in the notes section of your Google Calendar invite, most request a call upon arrival.
Notes
Please drive with an abundance of caution. We try our best to factor delays into our schedule, as our first priority is the safety of our crew.
